Delhi Development Authority to finalize its first project that is based on TOD (Transit Oriented Development) policy. The project will be located at Kakardooma and will be spread over 60 acres. It is expected to be as a “signature destination” for young professionals and corporate. It will include 4800 new homes along with world class amenities. Public spaces, plazas, office spaces, residential areas and restaurants are some of the proposed amenities of the project.
According to sources, Lt-Governor of the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) policy of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), has approved the project. Next week, the department is going to sign a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with NBCC ( National Buildings Construction Corporation) for constructing the “East Delhi Hub” at Kakardooma.
Objectives of TOD Policy
- To promote access to amenities within walking distance
- Decongestion of city roads
- Provide cleaner environment
- Integration of land under the policy of mixed land use.
According to senior officials, There will be 5 acre community park alongwith 3 acre neighborhood parks in the hub. Also an 80- storey “iconic tower ” will be incorporated in the hub. It would comprise retail space of 80,000 square metre. The project was proposed in the month of November 2015, but it actually came into action after the approval of the Lt-Governor.
