Delhi Development Authority(DDA) is going to build 800 Studio Apartments in Dwarka especially designed for senior citizens. These flats will be available with one bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and balcony too. Basic amenities like library, medical facilities, yoga rooms parks, canteen and common room with television will be provided in the complex.
Senior Citizens aged above 60 years will get an opportunity to live in these flats after paying a reasonable rent . DDA says that some agencies will be hired to collect the rent. DDA says once all the rooms are occupied, the next applicant can avail the rooms only if someone dies or voluntarily leaves. DP Singh, Chief Engineer, DDA said the construction of flats will commence within a year at Dwarka Sector 26 and will take 2.5 years to complete.
DDA is also planning to involve the private builders to start a similar project in Rohini for senior citizens. DDA will provide land measuring 5 hectares and under public-private partnership similar studio apartments will be build at Rohini, Sector-41-42.
